Clock Wise

Clock Wise is a specialist clock repair shop on Bullard Court in north Raleigh, run by owner Scott Sloan since 1997. Sloan's path into the trade began with a humble 1904 Seth Thomas mantel clock he inherited from his grandparents and needed repaired; that repair sparked a career spanning three decades and two shops, starting with The Clock Works Again in Carrboro (1997–2005) before he opened Clock Wise as his flagship store in North Raleigh in 2002. The shop focuses on antique and vintage clocks, offering repair, cleaning, and related services, and has built a reputation for old-world craftsmanship delivered with modern reliability. Notably, Sloan was commissioned in 2016 to repair the vintage Longines wall clock inside NC State's Reynolds Coliseum as part of a major renovation project — a nod to both his clockmaking expertise and his ties to Raleigh, where he has lived since 1976 and graduated from Millbrook High School before earning a business degree from NC State. With daily hands-on shop operations and house calls available, Clock Wise operates the way clock repair has traditionally been done — one clock, and one customer, at a time — rather than as a high-volume operation.
